Sky Safari, Taronga Zoo
Sydney
Creating a more accessible zoo experience
The iconic Sky Safari at Taronga Zoo has reached the end of its workable life after transporting more than 20 million passengers safely and efficiently around the Zoo. First installed in 1987, the Sky Safari was upgraded to its current experience in 2000.
Taronga Zoo asked BSK Projects to be part of this one-of-a-kind project to upgrade the Taronga Zoo Sky Safari to provide greater access to the Zoo for guests of all ages and abilities.
Currently, in the early stages of planning, the revitalised Sky Safari will feature additional larger and more accessible gondolas and extend along an expanded route complete with new terminals.
We are excited to be a part of this project working in a complex live environment with animals, a range of different stakeholders, and cultural and architectural heritage requirements to take into consideration.
If plans are approved, the new Sky Safari will open in 2026.
